Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic as well as a public speaking. Feminist Frequency hosts videos, comments and an analysis of portrayals in popular cultures. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning feminist journalist from Canada and a blogger. Feminist Frequency investigates how women are represented in popular culture. Dispelling stereotypes of women is the main goals of her work. In addition, Sarkeesian discusses issues of targeted harassment against women online and other minorities that have been excluded. A graduate in the field of political and social thinking at York University Sarkeesian is also a much sought-after public speaker and she has delivered talks at the TEDxWomen XOXO festival as well as the United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. She has been interested in gender issues and feminism from a very early age. In 2009, when she was still studying at university she started her Feminist Frequency web site. This ambitious woman planned to launch an internet series that examined the role of gender in games but was the target of a harassment campaign online. But the harassment did not discourage her. It only strengthened her in her role as a feminist journalist. Many awards have been presented to her for all of the contribution she has contributed to. Anita Sarkeesian, a media critic, has been awarded numerous awards and created Feminist Frequency which is an educational non-profit that examines the way women are depicted in the popular culture stories.
